A new program, aimed at integrating policy practitioners into the curriculum in meaningful ways is is associated with the government department and the public policy program. The initiative, called “The Connections Program,” is co-directed by Larry Evans and Lee Rawls.

We are still at the organizational stage, but over the next few years, program activities will include:

• annual “mini-conferences” with visiting policy practitioners that will be associated with one-credit courses for students,
• programs in Washington, D.C. for undergraduates about possible career opportunities in public policy and politics,
• one-credit courses taught in Williamsburg by visiting policy practitioners,
• and many other related events.

Representatives of the public policy program, career services, the Institute of Bill of Rights Law at the law school, and the William and Mary Washington Office have expressed interest in cosponsoring events. All of the program activities envisioned will provide William and Mary students with direct exposure to individuals involved in the policy and political arenas and all will feature meaningful curricular and career development opportunities for our students.
